Unstuck

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about Unstuck.

What is Unstuck?

Unstuck is a free AI powered tool that breaks down overwhelming tasks into small, timed chunks. You enter what you're stuck on, and Unstuck gives you a few concrete steps you can start right now, each with a time estimate and encouragement built in.

Is Unstuck free to use?

Yes! You get 5 welcome breakdowns to explore, then 3 free breakdowns per day. We're waiving limits during early access. Premium with unlimited breakdowns is coming soon.

Is my data private?

Yes. You can use Unstuck without an account, and we don't track or store your tasks unless you choose to sign in. Even then, your data stays yours. No ads, no selling your information.

How does Unstuck help me start tasks?

Many people struggle with task initiation, not task completion. The problem isn't knowing what to do, it's starting. Unstuck removes the "where do I even begin" paralysis by giving you one small step with a time estimate, permission to stop whenever you want, and encouragement along the way. It's designed for people who work in bursts, not blocks.

What kind of tasks can I break down?

Anything you're stuck on. Work projects, emails you've been avoiding, cleaning your apartment, studying, creative projects, admin tasks, difficult conversations you need to prepare for. If it feels too big to start, Unstuck can help.

How is Unstuck different from todo apps?

Todo apps are for storing tasks. Unstuck is for starting them. Most productivity tools assume you can look at a list and just begin. That doesn't work for everyone. Unstuck doesn't give you another place to dump tasks, it gives you the first 15 minutes so you can actually move.

Why do the chunks have time estimates?

When you can't gauge how long something takes, everything feels infinite and overwhelming. When you see "~5 min" next to a step, your brain can finally grasp that this isn't a big deal. It makes starting feel possible.

Can I stop in the middle of a task?

Yes, and we encourage it. Every breakdown shows "you can stop after any chunk" because momentum matters more than completion. Doing one chunk is infinitely better than doing nothing. Some days you'll do all of them, some days you'll do one. Both count.

Do I need an account?

No. You can use Unstuck completely anonymously. If you want to save your breakdowns and come back to them later, you can sign in with Google, but it's totally optional.

What does "you can stop after any chunk" mean?

It means exactly that. Traditional productivity advice says "finish what you start." That doesn't work for everyone. We built Unstuck around permission, not pressure. Complete one chunk and walk away guilt free. The progress still counts.

Why does Unstuck only show a few steps at first?

Because seeing everything at once is overwhelming. Unstuck shows you the current step and collapses the rest with "4 more steps later · you don't need them yet." You only see what matters right now. Less visual noise, more focus.

Who made Unstuck?

Unstuck was built by a team who struggled with task initiation their whole lives. After trying every productivity app and watching them all fail, we built the tool we actually needed: something designed for people who work in fragments, not marathons.

Does Unstuck work on mobile?

Yes. Unstuck is a web app that works on any device with a browser. No app to download, no storage to worry about. Just open unstucktask.com and go.

Can I save my breakdowns?

Yes, if you sign in with Google. Your breakdowns are saved to "My Sessions" where you can resume them later, track your progress, or revisit what worked. Without signing in, breakdowns aren't saved after you close the page.
